FAQS

The Bohemian Bee does not sell honey online. One of the main reasons is because I keep my supply limited, on purpose.
Honey is a precious natural resource – it’s a limited, natural product. It takes the nectar of two million flowers to create a single one pound jar of honey.
I’m a natural beekeeper, not a migratory one, which means I keep a small number of hives, rather than transporting thousands across the country for pollination.
I’m mindful of the native bees in our area – San Diego County alone is home to 628 species of native bees! Honey bees, while amazing, aren’t native to North America, and can disrupt the delicate Julian ecosystem if too many colonies are introduced. I limit the number of honey bee colonies I manage to help maintain a natural balance.

Honey yield changes every year depending on the weather and available flowers to forage from. Due to the fickle nature of agriculture, honey harvests are never a guarantee. I harvest once a year and only take honey that the bees will not need to sustain themselves throughout the winter.
This is another reason why The Bohemian Bee does not mass produce or sell honey online.

By keeping honey sales local, I’m able to support small businesses nearby.
This approach benefits our local economy, supports sustainability, and makes my business regenerative – everyone wins.
That’s why you won’t find my honey online. Instead, it’s available here, within our community, for those who help make it possible.
